This Wednesday, August 6, the CAIR-TX Communications Department will host a luncheon for Houston-area media professionals. We will share with reporters, editors and bloggers the ways in which we think media covers Islam and Muslims well – and ways in which they don’t. Reporters from all media – print, broadcast and online – will attend to have an open discussion around the luncheon theme of “Words Matter.” Some issues we’ll place on the table:
- Is the word jihad used correctly?
- What is an Islamist?
- How does the press decide to use the word terrorist?
- Who are your sources for information and viewpoints?
