Welcome to the Government Affairs section of CAIR-Houston!
This is where you can find important up-to-date information about your local, state and federal government. CAIR-Houston drives working relationships with your representatives, gathering critical data and support on the latest political action and legislation important to our communities while opposing those policies which limit the civil rights of individuals, permit racist ideologies, permit religious or ethnic profiling or prevents Muslims and others from partaking in American civic life.
In part of our commitment to giving Houston Muslims a voice in legislature, we host a Bi-Annual Texas Muslim Capitol Day, where we organize hundreds of Muslims to visit their state capitol in Texas and petition their legislators face to face.
CAIR-Houston challenges Houston Muslims to be more civically engaged in their communities by building networks and coalitions with like-minded community groups, sponsoring “Get Out the Vote” drives, hosting candidate forums, and keeping the community involved though legislative action alerts updated on our website.
