The Intersection of Islam and the Black Struggle

February 8, 2019
2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

UHMSA is partnering with UMR to bring you the finale to our week commemorating Black History Month. MSA and UMR will be holding a joint panel and privilege walk event where we make connections between Islam and the Black Struggle as well as tackle important biases prevalent in the non-black minority community.

This event is part of a broader initiative by UHMSA to commemorate Black History Month. It is essential that Muslim Americans pay respects to the African Americans who laid the foundation of our community and made it possible for us to prosper. The impact of African American Muslims on Muslims and American culture at large is incredibly understated. We hope this event and events like these will educate and bring our community together.
