Rally to Stop the Uyghur Genocide

Rally to Stop the Uyghur Genocide

April 6, 2019
10:00 am - 12:00 pm

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, urges the People’s Republic of China to end all state-sanctioned denial of religious freedoms targeting Muslims in that nation’s Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region.
The Houston community is coming together to oppose the discrimination and persecution of the Uyghur Muslims in China. Reports have revealed efforts of the Chinese government to forcibly convert Muslims in China, including by prohibiting fasting during the holy month of Ramadan, “re-education” camps, and force feeding Muslims alcohol and pork – both of which are prohibited in Islam. Over 3 million Uyghur Muslims have been incarcerated into so called “re-education” camps by the Chinese government. The whereabouts of the people taken into these camps are not known for many of the families whom are forced to be silent due to extreme crack down by the authorities.
CAIR-Houston stands in solidarity with persecuted Muslim communities worldwide. When the United States stands up for the human rights of Muslims internationally, it reinforces its commitment to freedom of religion and sends a powerful message to support American Muslims and Americans of all faiths.
