Civil rights organization asks local, federal law enforcement authorities to investigate
(HOUSTON, TEXAS, 11/18/14) – The Houston office of the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) today called on local and federal law enforcement authorities to investigate a phone threat received by that civil rights and advocacy organization.
The obscenity-laced threat was received late last night on the CAIR-Houston answering machine and contained direct references to the office address and to Muslims being “exterminated from this land.”

CAIR-Houston also received similar threats on its Facebook page and reported those to law enforcement.
CAIR recently reported a number of apparent hate attacks on Islamic institutions in the United States, including shots fired at a California mosque and an firebomb attack on a mosque in New Mexico.

The Muslim civil rights group’s San Diego chapter also asked the FBI to investigate a threatening letter with an unknown substance sent to a local Mosque.
