CAIR-Texas Welcomes Guilty Verdict for Killing of Adil Dghoughi
(HOUSTON, TX – 11/3/2023) – The combined Texas chapters of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Houston) welcomed the conviction of a man who shot 31-year-old Adil Dghoughi to death in Martindale, Texas, on Oct. 11, 2021
A Caldwell County jury found Terry Turner guilty of manslaughter. Turner was originally charged with murder. He told authorities at the time of the killing that an unknown vehicle entered his driveway late at night, so he grabbed his gun and chased after the car when it backed out of his driveway. Dghoughi’s family traveled from Morocco to be in court.
CAIR’s Austin chapter welcomed Turner’s arrest at the time of the killing.
“We welcome the jury’s verdict in this tragic case and hope it brings some measure of comfort to Adil Dghoughi’s loved ones,” said CAIR-Houston Director William White.
CAIR-Houston is an office of Texas’ largest Muslim civil liberties and advocacy organization. Its mission is to enhance the understanding of Islam, protect civil rights, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
