(TEXAS, 12/13/2023) – Muslim leaders from across Texas are coming together to call on political and elected officials to demand a ceasefire in the ongoing genocide in Palestine. The leaders express deep concern over the staggering human toll, with 20,000 Palestinians, including 8,000 children, senselessly killed.
“Our hearts are heavy with grief for the families who have lost loved ones, especially the children who should never have to endure the horrors of war,” said William White, Director of CAIR-Houston. “It is our moral obligation to stand together and call for a ceasefire to prevent further loss of life and alleviate the suffering of those affected.”
This collective appeal from Texas Muslim leaders underscores the critical need for immediate action to halt the hostilities and protect civilian lives. Regardless of political affiliations, these leaders are united in their plea for officials to prioritize the safety and well-being of the innocent caught amid this devastating conflict.
The joint statement from Texas Muslim leaders states in part:
“We, a coalition representing over 500,000 Muslims in Texas, urgently appeal to you regarding the dire situation in Gaza. We condemn the state-sponsored attacks by Israel and call for an immediate and permanent ceasefire…”
