CAIR-Texas Joins Calls for Release of Dallas Muslim Community Leader Abducted by ICE

The Texas chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-TX) today joined the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) and other organizations in calling on the Trump administration to release Marwan Marouf, an MLFA client, longtime Dallas Muslim community leader and legal immigrant who was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on September 22.
Reports indicate Marwan Marouf was detained after dropping his son off at school, while on his way to work. According to the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA), they have represented him for over six years in his application for lawful permanent residence. Marouf helped found the largest Boy Scout troop in North Dallas (Circle 10 District), consistently volunteered with the Red Cross, organized drug awareness campaigns for youth, and served as a certified disaster-relief first responder. Local sources confirm he has held leadership roles in MAS Dallas and the North Texas Islamic Council, contributing to interfaith outreach and community care.

In a statement, CAIR-TX Executive Director Mustafaa Carroll said:
“We demand that the Trump administration immediately releases Marwan Marouf from this unjust detention. Mr. Marouf has been a pillar of the community and has worked to serve the people of Dallas and our nation. He must be released immediately.”
CAIR-Austin Director Shaimaa Zayan said:
“Both CAIR and CAIR-Texas are deeply concerned about the case of Mr. Marouf, given his respected standing within both Muslim and non-Muslim communities across Texas. Mr. Marouf is a devoted family man who has consistently engaged in peaceful, civic, and charitable efforts, contributing meaningfully to our country.
“We reject narratives pushed by hate-driven and fear-mongering groups that lack credibility. Instead, we call for transparency and accountability. What specific illegal actions is Mr. Marouf being accused of? Why has he been denied due process?
“We commend the Muslim Legal Fund of America (MLFA) for stepping up to provide legal representation. Based on the information available, it appears Mr. Marouf is being unfairly targeted and profiled due to his faith and charitable work.
“This broader immigration crackdown—marked by the arrest and deportation of peaceful, hard-working immigrants—does nothing to solve our nation’s real challenges. On the contrary, it deepens social divisions and undermines the values we claim to uphold.”
CAIR’s mission is to protect civil rights, enhance understanding of Islam, promote justice, and empower American Muslims.
