Dr. Khan, a beloved member of the community, dedicated pediatrician, wife, mother, and sister to her surviving siblings, was brutally stabbed on Saturday, October 28, allegedly by Miles Joseph Fridrich.

The family of Dr. Talat Jehan Khan, the Khan family, said in a statement, “Our family is relieved by the indictment for first-degree murder, marking a crucial stride towards justice. We now shift our focus to unraveling the motive behind this tragic event. We thank the DA’s office for their effort in fighting for justice for Dr Talat Khan and hope for continued effort in finding the motive.”

William White, Director of CAIR-Houston, commented on the importance of this indictment, stating, “We appreciate the thorough investigation conducted by law enforcement, leading to the indictment of Miles Fridrich in the murder of Dr. Talat Khan. This is a crucial development in ensuring justice for this senseless act of violence. Our thoughts and support remain with Dr. Khan’s family during this difficult time.”

Family attorney John Floyd emphasizes the need for continued investigation into the motive behind Dr. Khan’s murder and raises concerns about the possibility of it being a hate crime. Floyd stated, “While the indictment is a positive step forward, we urge authorities to delve deeper into the motive behind Dr. Khan’s murder. There are indications that this may be a hate crime, and a thorough investigation is necessary to uncover the truth. We remain committed to seeking justice for Dr. Khan and her family.”

CAIR-Houston reiterates its commitment to supporting the Khan family throughout the legal process and calls for a comprehensive and unbiased investigation to uncover the truth behind this tragic incident.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization.
