CAIR-Houston Urges Houston Muslims to Vote Tomorrow in the 2020 Primary Runoff on Election Day

(HOUSTON, TX, 7/13/2020) – The Council on American-Islamic Relations, Houston Chapter (CAIR-Houston)   is urging all eligible Muslim voters to participate in the primary runoff elections scheduled to take place tomorrow, July 14th. Voting by mail is strongly encouraged for those eligible.

CAIR-Houston encourages individuals who plan on voting in person to abide by the recommended precautions for preventing the spread of COVID-19 as outlined by the CDC. These include wearing a mask and practicing social distancing.

In the primary runoff, each party will select their candidates from the races that were unsettled during the March primary election. Some races will be depend upon where Houston voters live. Polling locations across Houston, Texas are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“The right to vote is fundamental especially during this time where there are critical seats that must be filled on a local, state and federal level. We encourage our community to vote tomorrow and to practice COVID-19 safety measures while casting their votes in person at the polls.” said   CAIR-Houston President and Chair, John Floyd, Attorney.

The website is part of CAIR’s annual non-partisan “Muslims Vote” campaign designed to empower American Muslims by increasing their political capacity and presence in the 2020 General Election. CAIR estimates there are well over 1 million registered American Muslim voters in the United States, with large communities residing in key swing states.
