(HOUSTON, TEXAS, 3/1/23) – On Thursday, March 2, the Houston chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Houston), a chapter of the nation’s largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, plans to offer testimony at a hearing on bill SB147 that is intended to stop land ownership by Chinese, Russian, North Korean and Iranian nationals.

That hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. CT in the Senate Committee on State Affairs.

CAIR-Houston, which previously condemned the legislation, says the proposed law is unclear as to whether that prohibition on ownership would apply to citizens of the named countries who are also United States citizens.
