The situation in Gaza has reached a critical point, with a staggering toll of more than 25,000 Palestinians dead, including more than 10,000 children, and 62,000 injured as a result of the ongoing genocide. Families are trapped in dire conditions, facing unimaginable hardships. While the United States has said in the past, they are working to evacuate U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents, along with their parents, spouses, and unmarried siblings under the age of 21, the government has consistently failed to fulfill this commitment.

CAIR-Houston Director William White emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating:

“The crisis in Gaza demands immediate attention and action. The Biden Administration must uphold its action to evacuate U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and their families, ensuring the safety and well-being of those trapped in this dire situation. The staggering loss of life, particularly among children, is a tragedy that cannot be ignored. President Biden must call for a ceasefire, and the families of US Citizens must be a priority.”

CAIR-Houston Advocacy Coordinator Unaiza Punjwani adds: “We cannot stand idly by as innocent lives are lost and families suffer. It is our moral obligation to speak out and demand that the Biden Administration take swift and decisive action to address this humanitarian crisis in Gaza by at least assisting the families of US Citizens and Green Card holders.”
