Mustafaa Carroll, CAIR-Houston Executive Director, attended a roundtable press conference on Saturday January 7, 2017 called by Congresswoman Sheila Jackson-Lee regarding efforts underway to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The Congressomwan’s message was that the state of Texas is already compromised by not accepting Affordable Care Act funds, placing at risk the lives of working Texans and the indigent who have life-threatening conditions and illnesses. As stated at the press conference, these purely politically motivated actions are appalling, especially by a wheelchair-bound governor who himself could be in a dire predicament if our taxpayer dollars weren’t supporting his care.
