CAIR-Houston Calls for Hate Crime Charges for Attempted Racist Vehicular Assault

The Houston chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-Houston) today called for hate crime charges against a man who allegedly attempted to run over a neighbor after calling him racial slurs.
A west Houston man was arrested after police say he shouted the n-word at one of his neighbors and tried to run him over. The alleged perpetrator also reportedly has a terroristic threat charge stemming from a 2022 case. Police said he called an Arab neighbor a terrorist and threatened to kill him and the man’s dog.

“We urge law enforcement authorities to pursue hate crime charges against the alleged perpetrator in this disturbing case,” said CAIR-Texas Board Member John Floyd. “This is not the first such incident reportedly involving this person and must be taken seriously.”
